Abstract

The development of technology has been increasing over time, giving rise to a new technology called Augmented Reality. Augmented Reality is a development of one of the technologies called Mixed Reality, which consists of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). Mixed Reality is a technology that can involve the real world and the virtual world combined by mixing objects in various situations. Augmented Reality is a technology that combines two-dimensional or three-dimensional virtual objects as if they were in the real world and then projects those objects simultaneously. This research aims to design an Augmented Reality application by implementing a marker-based Tracking method to analyze performance using distance and angle of inclination parameters towards the appearance of three-dimensional (3D) objects. Data in this study were collected through direct observation, by conducting performance tests with distances used of 10cm, 20cm, 30cm, 40cm, 50cm, 60cm and 70cm as well as angles of inclination tested of 0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 40°, 50°, 60°, and 70°. The tests were conducted by focusing the camera on the marker, in this test there were several angles that were not relevant to display the image, namely angles of 30°, 40°, 50°, 60°, and 70°. Thus, the test results were analyzed using graphs, based on these results, it was concluded that it is true that the presence of distance, angle of inclination, and ideal light have an influence on the appearance of 3D objects well. Thus, the light, distance, and angle of inclination that hit the marker in the AR application need to be considered so that the 3D object can appear well, in accordance with the design that has been stored in the Augmented Reality application database.
